The Brewing Guide

A good pot is a matter of patience

Every tea has its own temperament. Here’s how we brew ours at the shop — use it as a starting point, then steep to taste.

01

Boil

Heat fresh, filtered water to the temperature your leaf calls for.

02

Measure

One heaping teaspoon of loose leaf per cup is the house rule of thumb.

03

Steep

Cover the pot and let time do the work — resist the urge to rush it.

04

Pour & Enjoy

Strain the leaves, warm your hands on the cup, and slow down.

Green Tea
Water Temp
160–175°F
Steep Time
2–3 min

Steep too hot or too long and it turns bitter — patience rewards sweetness.

Black Tea

200–212°F

3–5 min
Leaf Amount
1 tsp per cup

A robust tea for a robust day — steep it fearlessly, right off the boil.

5–7 min
Leaf Amount
1–2 tsp per cup

No caffeine, no rules — steep as long as your evening allows.
